The past year has required us all to adapt and pivot to the challenges we’re facing as a community. One of the easiest ways to stay socially connected while keeping safe physical distance is by transforming common outdoor spaces into safe community places with seating, plants and natural habitats. Richmond ToolBank and the YMCA are doing just that by partnering together to activate more outdoor spaces in the age of physical distancing by building picnic tables and benches – and a group of SyCom-ers stepped up and volunteered to help!
SyCom volunteers gathered at the Tuckahoe Family YMCA on a sunny evening in early May to help build picnic tables. The group not only had a great time but also was able to build 5 picnic tables for the YMCA’s kids camp. It was the perfect opportunity to safely reconnect with each other and give back to the Richmond community!
