SyCom Security Practice Manager, Darren Manners, was pleased to be a guest speaker at the New College Institute ‘How Hackable are You?’ cybersecurity event. For this session, Darren examined how an organization, business or individual can be attacked by a hacker using social engineering techniques. Social engineering is the art of manipulating people into performing actions or getting confidential information. Since an action as simple as clicking on a link can bring down a business, Darren also discussed best practices for protecting an individual, their data and their customers. He recommended: “You are the weakest link, but you can also be the strongest link. Report any suspicious activity to your IT department.”
