SyCom adds Small Business to its list of clients served!
(Innsbrook Today Magazine, Richmond, VA, June 1, 2008) They are on a roll again! Last month, SyCom Technologies, the company known for over a decade as a premier provider of IT Infrastructure solutions to medium to large organizations in the public and private sectors throughout the Mid-Atlantic, announced the rollout of a new business unit that will focus on fulfilling the IT needs of small businesses throughout the Richmond region.
The decision to formalize a unit focused on small business took some time in coming and was the result of several factors. Impacting the decision was client desire and emerging solutions. SyCom has been receiving an increasing number of requests and referrals from small businesses for services -- and SyCom saw the emergence of sophisticated IT solutions for small business from industry leaders such as Microsoft and Cisco.
This trend supported comments from a recent McKinsey Report that stated the technical needs of small and mid-sized businesses are no less sophisticated than those of the enterprise; however, the ability for smaller companies to meet those needs with limited personnel and limited dollars is a challenge. The day-to-day issues of keeping viruses out, communications open, yet secure, and systems up and running was a continual challenge.
Tom Cricchi, CEO and President of SyCom, stated, “Small and Mid-sized businesses have always been part of our client base – as a result, we are particularly aware and sensitive to the issues that confront business owners and managers. Bottom line, business owners want to know how to utilize technology solutions to increase revenues and/or reduce costs.
SyCom has put together a 12-person team for the initial rollout of the Small Business Group in the Richmond MSA. “Through a combination of small business designated Account Managers, our support help desk, certified and highly experienced customer and systems engineers, an array of specially bundled SMB services, and our vendor partner programs, we can craft a support solution which will provide proven end-to-end business continuity from an IT perspective,” commented Cricchi. . The SBG team has the advantage of being backed up by SyCom’s well established Technical Services Group of over 50 engineers statewide.
“We have found our small business clients want the ability to keep their technology current without killing their budget. They need our help to prioritize what is important, and they want to know that when they pick up the phone, we will be here to assist in a timely manner. We have developed service offerings that provide our small business customers with a dedicated team prepared to deliver guaranteed onsite or remote support at a reasonable cost,” stated Wanda Castelvecchi, Richmond Territory Sales Manager for SyCom. Tim Miller and Joanna Laramore are the Small Business Group’s designated Account Managers. They are backed up by a 10 person technical services group.
Client focused and rich in technical expertise, SyCom's Mission Statement clearly states its goal: “to provide outstanding and memorable service in everything we do.” The company’s core competencies are focused on improving communications, reducing risk and optimizing operations.
The Richmond based company is privately held with satellite offices in Tyson's Corner, Roanoke, and Norfolk, Virginia, Charleston, WVA and Charlotte, NC. SyCom has built an impressive list of over 500 commercial and public sector clients ranging from small to Fortune 500 firms and includes municipalities and educational facilities throughout Virginia.
Founded in 1996, the company, which has over 50 full time technical engineers, has continually been recognized for excellence within the industry and holds coveted Microsoft Gold and Cisco Gold. Additional industry leaders they represent are HP, EMC, f5, Packeteer, AT&T, Liebert and VMWare. Among SyCom’s areas of specialization are Security, Wireless and IP Communications.
The company’s many awards include E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year / Emerging Company for the State of Virginia, the Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s The Fantastic 50, which annually recognizes the growth and profitability of Virginia based businesses, The GRTC’s IT Builders Award, The Rising 25, which recognizes the top 25 companies in the Greater Richmond Metropolitan area, and the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Marketplace Integrity. #
